Re/tell Atlas, Forthcoming
Sonic assemblages that echos both collective and autobiographical experiences of migration, language, origin and chaos deriving from mixed-heritage experiences.
Re-imagining and reclaiming this through sampling techniques of selected vinyl, cassettes and archives to create a fractal patchwork of hybrid rhythms. Taking inspiration from pioneer sound experimentalists such as Nicolas Collins, cues from the BBC Radiophonic Workshop; methods of music concrete and tape manipulations.
Re/tell Atlas is both a soundscape and has resulted in a forthcoming cassette edition, specifically expanded, edited and mixed for listening pleasures.
Sourced materials pictured from left to right: DjurDjura (vinyl), Groupe De Femmes Algériennes Djurdjura (vinyl), SAID EL HEMRI, S/T (cassette) Cheb Adelhak, Sarbi Sarbi (cassette) and Songs and Music of Algeria (vinyl).
