Foresight & Fiction
2024 · installation · sound, sculpture and printed matter
Foresight & Fiction brings together collage, print and sound to consider the movement of bodies, objects and images across borders. Drawing from found imagery, micronations, personal travel archives and postal forms, the work uses the stamp as both an image and a travelling object—one capable of collapsing geographical distance and unsettling ideas of nationhood, legitimacy and belonging.
Across the installation, collaged landscapes bring disparate geographies into proximity, while sound moves between field recordings, sampling and sonic fragments gathered across different locations. Through these acts of juxtaposition, the work considers how borders are constructed and how images, sounds and objects might circulate beyond the structures that seek to contain them.
