safe keeping

2026 · two-channel moving image · 16mm to HD · 10'36"

         safe keeping (2026)
is a duo-channel moving-image work filmed on 16mm across the sister cities of Glasgow and Marseille. Tracing colonial afterlives through migration, the work approaches the city as a site of sonic and spatial echoes, exploring memory, cultural inheritance, and the shared histories that continue to shape both places.

Through a constellation of sites, including La Friche la Belle de Mai in Marseille and GoMA in Glasgow, both institutions situated within former tobacco-related infrastructures, the work places cultural landmarks in dialogue with locally run businesses and spaces of the commons.

Attending to architecture, interiors, and urban landscapes, safe keeping examines the politics of inheritance and the material conditions through which histories are preserved, forgotten, remade, and enfolded.
